6 Reasons Your Brand Needed A Blog Yesterday

If your website is a storefront, then your blog is like the coffee shop next door — it's where you bump into potential new customers and have casual conversations that might pique their interest.

Having a blog is a great way to connect with your target audience, build a relationship by sharing your expertise, knowledge and fun tidbits, as well as provide valuable, engaging content that keeps your customers (past, current and future) coming back for more.

If you've ever wondered why your (or any) website should have a blog, keep scrolling.

1. Post Regularly (& Get Discovered)

Posting to your blog consistently is an easy way for potential customers to stumble upon your website (aka your business). By writing on relevant, interesting topics that your ideal customer would be curious about, you will drive traffic to your website. With a catchy headline, valuable content and consistent posts, your blog will attract the right kind of people AND boost your website's ranking on search engines.

2. Be Open (& Connect with Your Audience)

Your current (and potential) customers want to hear from you. As an expert in your field, you have a wealth of knowledge that could benefit a large audience. Regular blog posts are an easy way to connect with your people by offering content that is relevant, educational, entertaining and informative — plus, positions you as an authority in the space to keep them coming back for more. Before you know it, you will be your ideal customer's go-to expert in your field.

3. Tell a Story (& Promote Your Products & Services)

Whether you have new products to release or current services you want to promote, blogs are an excellent way to educate your customers through storytelling, fact sharing, educational lists, you name it. Your blog is the ideal avenue to position your products and services, and share your "why" behind creating it in the first place.

4. Keep it Fresh (& Boost Your Rankings)

Now I'm not an SEO expert, and I won't pretend to be, but I do know Google loves websites that are constantly updated. By regularly publishing new copy, you're showing Google that you're active, your business is relevant and, in turn, your website will rank higher on search engines, increasing your organic traffic (and who doesn't love free leads?!).

5. Think Long-term (& Create Evergreen Content)

As you know, life is often unpredictable, and last-minute projects are sometimes just unavoidable. Perhaps you’re preparing for an upcoming launch, re-engaging your email list or firing up some new Facebook ads — if you need copy in a pinch, a copywriter on retainer will have space saved in their calendar for you. That's right — never miss another deadline!

6. Share Your Knowledge (& Become an Authority)

Finally, blogs are a great way to show off your expertise and improve your credibility with both your audience and potential customers. That's why I always say valuable content is king (or queen). Regularly sharing useful knowledge for free is a surefire way to turn casual readers into paying customers, and keep them coming back for more.

Blogging really doesn't have to be a daunting task, because you're likely already creating content for other platforms — like social media posts, email campaigns, weekly newsletters and more. Blogging is simply one more asset that can be added to your content strategy, and the content can be recycled for other platforms. Plus, if you're already doing social media, sharing links to your blog is one of the best ways to drive traffic to your website and convert those curious readers into raving fans.

But here's the thing, and I really want you to hear this:

Writing is not for everyone, and that's ok. I believe wholeheartedly that we each have a zone of genius — where we truly thrive — and we should stay in it as much as possible. If starting a blog sounds overwhelming, stressful, time consuming, tedious, I get it — this isn't your zone of genius. But now you see why having one is SO important.

If this sounds like you, consider hiring an experienced writer who can not only take care of this for you so you can regain your freedom, but will create a content strategy, strengthen your brand and increase customer loyalty through consistent, valuable content. Then you can focus on what you do best, whether that's growing your business, envisioning new offers, coaching your clients or planning for the next quarter.

If you're ready to launch a blog, update an existing blog, or scrap it and start over, I can help you grow your brand (and your profits) through a powerful combination of copywriting and content writing.
